Recycling at the Curb

How Do I Get Service Started?

Curbside recycling in Longmont is provided by the City. Longmont residents are automatically on the recycling schedule. Simply call the City at 303-651-8416 to get your cart delivered and to determine your pickup schedule. Then just follow the guidelines and set out your cart.

When is My Pick-up?

Recycling collection is every other week on alternate weeks, same day as trash. Call 303-651-8416 for schedule information or see a map of when recycling collection is scheduled for your home. You can now report missed pickups or request a new container online.

Tips for curbside recycling:

  1. Be sure to put your materials out on the right day and time.
  2. Please prepare materials correctly and only include items accepted through your program. Including additional materials jeopardizes recycling markets and makes processing more costly.
  3. Most of these items are accepted at the Longmont Recycling Center located at 140 Martin St. Please see below for the guidelines and sorting requirements for the drop-off center, or call 303-772-7300.
  4. Please rinse containers. Do not crush or flatten containers.
  5. Please avoid breaking glass. Glass shards are difficult to sort by color, and even more difficult to market.

After the ghosts and goblins have gone home, don’t reach for the trashcan!

If you live in Longmont, take them to the City of Longmont Waste Diversion Center located at 140 Martin St. Pumpkins will be collected with the tree limbs and the remaining materials can go in the compost bin.

** Plastic candy wrappers cannot be recycled in your Single Stream bin, but don’t trash them. Collect 100 or more wrappers and send them to Terra Cycle, a company that will make them into new products. Visit their website for more details: www.terracycle.net.
